"Siena" Loose, unframed watercolor print $50
Image size: 9 wide x 12 1/2 high

In May of 2012, Willa made a memorable trip to Tuscany with a group of her beloved fellow artist friends. There she produced a remarkable body of work: fifteen watercolor paintings that captured the essence of the Italian villages of Cinque Terre. Her beautiful, loose paintings effortlessly embody the soft colors and light of Italy and its wonderful, soothing to the senses, timeless stone architecture.

A majority of her original watercolors from this trip have since sold but we decided to produce a small number of limited edition giclee prints to allow the discerning art lover to enjoy her work at a quarter of the price. Only 50 editions have been produced, each signed and numbered by the artist, their value going up with time and as each one is sold.

We offer the editions archivally framed or as loose works to be framed by the collector to his/her taste.

ABOUT GICLEE PRINTING and Limited edition signed & numbered prints

Giclee prints are a revolutionary new way of reproducing accurately paintings, drawings or artwork.and have became very popular with artist wishing to sell their art to a wider audience.

The Definition : Giclee (zhee-klay) - The French word "Giclee" is a feminine noun that means a spray or a spurt of liquid. The word may have been derived from the French verb "gicler" meaning "to squirt". In giclee printing, no screen or other mechanical devices are used and therefore there is no visible dot screen pattern. The image has all the tonalities and hues of the original painting.

giclée (zhee-clay) n. 1. a type of digital fine-art print. 2. Most often associated with reproductions; a giclée is a multiple print or exact copy of an original work of art that was created by conventional means (painting, drawing, etc.) and then reproduced digitally, typically via inkjet printing. First use in this context by Jack Duganne in 1991, Los Angeles, California

The Term : The term "Giclee print" connotes an elevation in printmaking technology. Images are generated from high resolution digital scans and printed with archival quality inks onto various substrates including canvas, fine art paper, and photo-base paper. The Giclee printing process provides better colour accuracy than other means of reproduction. Archival quality ensures that the prints are light-fast and non water soluble.

The Quality : The quality of the Giclee print rivals traditional silver-halide and gelatin printing processes and is commonly found in museums, art galleries, and photographic galleries.

In reproduction printing, an edition is a number of copies produced. This may be a limited edition, with a fixed number of printed copies produced on the understanding that no further copies will be produced later. Most modern artists produce only limited editions, normally signed by the artist in pencil, and numbered as say 67/100 to show the unique number of that work of art and the total edition size
